Design – Bid

This is the most common project delivery method. Thornton Steel has extensive experience in design-bid projects. We have a large network of suppliers, erectors, and detailers that we have built strong relationships with over the past 70+ years. Thornton Steel is able to assemble qualified project teams at competitive prices.

Design – Assist

The design assist method is becoming a very popular option for projects, particularly those with complex design or aggressive schedules. This method allows Thornton Steel to actively engage with the design team through the life of the project to share our trade expertise, value engineering ideas, and design suggestions. Thornton Steel has built a history over the past 70+ years to be able to tap into various networks of detailers, project managers, erectors, in-house engineers, and suppliers.

Design – Build

The design build method has seen some growth recently as owners, developers, and construction managers recognize the benefits of close collaboration between Thornton Steel and structural engineers. For this method, Thornton Steel is able to suggest and guide the designers in creating the most structurally and cost efficient steel frame. This input proves extremely valuable as it ultimately results in both time and cost savings on the project.

Integrated Project Delivery

Thornton Steel has enjoyed involvement in utilizing the Integrated Project Delivery method. This method emphasizes strong and efficient teamwork through shared risk and reward. Our experience with integrated project delivery has given us a clear understanding of the time, communication, and partnership demands that this method requires.
